Russia’s Surgutneftegas denies plans to buy 19.5% in Rosneft
MOSCOW, May 13 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Surgutneftegas has no plans to buy 19.5% in oil major Rosneft from the government, the company said in a statement Wednesday denying Tuesday media reports.
Bloomberg reported quoting sources that Surgutneftegas may purchase the stake in Rosneft in order to help it refinance U.S. $$23.5 billion of debt coming due.
“Surgutneftegas’ press service says that contents of aforementioned publications have no ground behind them. The rumors, as we see it, are only aimed at destabilizing the situation on the stock market and deceiving investors and shareholders,” the company said.
